“I’ve been attending the Active Outdoors sessions for the past six months and the impact has been incredible, both physically and mentally.
My strength and overall fitness have improved more than I ever expected, but just as importantly, the sessions have had a hugely positive effect on my mental health. They give me a real boost, every time.
The trainers are fantastic — knowledgeable, supportive, and brilliant at pushing you to do your best while still making the sessions enjoyable and achievable for all levels. No two sessions are ever the same, which keeps things fresh, challenging, and exciting.
On top of that, there’s a great sense of community. Everyone is welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely supportive, which makes turning up each week something I really look forward to. I couldn’t recommend these sessions highly enough.”

“I’ve been attending the Active Outdoors sessions at Penn & Tylers Green for the past six months, and it’s been a fantastic experience.
The sessions are always well structured, challenging, and fun, with a great mix of strength, cardio, and mobility work.
Sophie, Fee, and James are brilliant coaches, they’re knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely care about helping everyone progress at their own pace.
The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, which makes it easy to stay consistent and push yourself.
I’ve noticed a big improvement in my fitness and energy levels, and I actually look forward to every session. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a positive, results driven fitness community!”

“Since joining the Health England Active Outdoors classes at Penn earlier this year, my fitness has completely transformed.
The sessions are varied, challenging, and somehow still fun (even in all weathers!), and training outdoors in the fresh air has been such a boost.
The whole team is incredibly supportive — Fee, Sophie, and James helped me build the strength and confidence to take on my big goal of a Hyrox in December.
It’s a really encouraging, motivating environment and I’ve seen a big increase in both my overall strength and fitness. I would definitely recommend joining.”

“Health England has genuinely been a game changer for how I approach my fitness and overall health. From day one you’re supported and welcomed—James, Sophie and Fee have created a programme built around better movement, sustainable health, and helping you become fitter, more flexible, and more capable in day-to-day life. Everything is delivered in such a diverse, varied way that you’re constantly learning new movements, improving technique, and building a long-term skill set that keeps training engaging and enjoyable.
But the real magic is the community they’ve cultivated. Everyone supports each other, celebrates your wins, and gives you that gentle nudge to go a little further—always in an environment that is fun, inclusive and encouraging. The coaches lead by example; they genuinely care. James will remember something you mentioned in passing about an ache or a strain, then come back to you with research, guidance, and practical steps to help fix it. That level of attention is rare.
Training at Health England never feels like dragging yourself to a workout. The classes are so varied and intentionally designed—rooted in best practice, healthy movement patterns, and the science behind why you’re doing each exercise—that it feels nothing like a standard gym session. The team’s passion and expertise mean they can adapt every exercise to your fitness level, injury history or individual goals without missing a beat.
And it’s not just a fitness class—it’s a health-focused community. James regularly runs additional talks on topics like posture and hormonal health, genuinely wanting members to live better, not just train better. On a personal level, he went above and beyond in helping me tackle long-standing challenges with alcohol and binge drinking. He didn’t have to take that on, but he chose to—setting out routines, checking in, and giving me the tools to build healthier habits. That support has been life-changing.
The best part of Health England is still the people. Watching everyone get fitter, happier and healthier together is incredibly motivating. You can be social, be outdoors, be active—the core ingredients of a genuinely healthy life. The whole environment is built around growing together and becoming the best version of yourself.
Honestly, short of marrying my wife, joining Health England is the best decision I’ve made in years. It’s had a profound impact on my life, and I’m genuinely grateful to have found it. It really is the best-kept secret in Penn.
Honestly, just give it a go - come along - have some fun, get fitter, be healthier and make some friends.”

“The Active Outdoors team are all brilliant! I love learning so many new techniques and exercises, and I never feel any question is a silly one.
The sessions are set out to challenge everyone at where they individually are in their fitness.
Everything is adaptable and it’s a great community too. I came along not knowing anyone, and never having done any sort of fitness class before.
I run fairly regularly, so I wanted something flexible that I could fit in to my week.
Whichever group you go along to, everyone makes you feel welcome and immediately a part of them. I cannot thank you all enough for your hard work, support and dedication - and most importantly, good humour!”
